RECOGNITION BY TQA

TASMANIAN QUALIFICATIONS AUTHORITY

Since 2005 the Tasmanian Qualifications Authority (TQA) has recognized AMEB qualifications on the Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE).

This means that students in Years 11/12 at school/college who gain:

AMEB Fourth Grade Practical or above
AMEB Second Grade Written or above
AMEB Contemporary Popular Music Advancing Step 2 or above

can have the qualification recorded on the Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE).

From 2009 there will be a new TCE.  To attain this Certificate, students will need to gain 120 points.   The AMEB qualifications listed above can contribute to these points.  Furthermore, even if the AMEB qualifications have been completed prior to Years 11 and 12 they may still be counted towards the score.  To enable this to occur, all AMEB candidates – not only those currently in Years 11/12 – should tick the relevant box on the AMEB examination entry form indicating that their AMEB qualifications and personal details (eg date of birth) may be provided to the Tasmanian Qualifications Authority (TQA).  If the box is not ticked, the information will not be provided to the TQA and the AMEB qualification will not be recorded on the TCE.
